Despicable Me minion nail art

Hello! This is my first post as a blogger! I've always wanted to make a nail blog for such a long time and this is actually the first time I actually made one and I'm super excited!

Anyway, onto the main topic of my first post.

Last night I was very bored and I'm on summer holiday right now so obviously that means that my sleeping pattern was all jumbled up, so it was about 11 pm and I was bored to death. So I decided I was going to do some nail art. I was browsing the interwebz for "nailspiration", as they put it. And then I remembered the movie Despicable Me 2 that I saw a few days ago with my cousin and I decided I would make nail art inspired by the cute yellow minions! (That movie was fabulous, but the way. My favorite part was when the minions sung "I Swear" in their minion language and they sung "underwear" instead of "I swear". I cracked up!) I didn't invent this design though; these minion nails have been recreated many times by other people.

I used NARS Amchoor from the Thakoon collection last year (which was absolutely beautiful) for the yellow base. Then I used white acrylic paint to fill in the eyes, and then lining the eyes with a silver striper. I used a black striper next for the "glasses". With a dotting tool, I made dots in the eyes for the pupils. I drew the mouths with a black striper and then with a dotting tool, filled in with a pinkish-coral color for the tongue. Finally I drew their clothes with a dark blue striper. Done!

These are all the things I used for this design:

(from left to right)

  • Orly Instant Artist (striper) in True Blue
  • NARS Amchoor
  • Orly Instant Artist (striper) in Jet Black
  • Orly Instant Artist (striper) in Platinum
  • Max Factor Glossfinity in Cute Coral
  • white acrylic paint
  • dotting tool (not pictured)
I posted my nail art on Instagram and people absolutely loved it! I got so many compliments and I was over the moon! This design isn't as hard as it looks anyway, as long as you have the right equipment.

That's it for today, hope you enjoyed the post!
